01. Data Collection

When you download, sign up, or interact with the Spanglish app or website, we collect information necessary to deliver a customized language learning experience. This information is classified into the following categories:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password, profile picture, native language selection, and target learning language.
  • Learning Analytics: Daily streak counts, lesson progress, reading speeds, literature levels, saved vocabulary items, and performance on spaced-repetition exercises.
  • Usage Metrics: Device model, operating system, IP address, screen clicks, and other telemetry standard to app stability and analytics.

We process this data under the legal basis of performing our contract with you (to deliver our service) and in accordance with legitimate business interests (improving our platform's pedagogical efficiency).

02. AI Usage & Processing

Your Chats are Secure

We use secure sandboxed Large Language Models to evaluate grammar. Your chat logs are never sold or used for target advertisement campaigns.

The core of the Spanglish experience is the AI Chat Tutor. When you type or record a sentence:

  • Your message is transmitted securely to our cloud APIs, where it is analyzed by an AI model to evaluate grammar structure, sentence naturalness, and vocabulary selection.
  • The conversation logs are stored to maintain the context of your conversation session so that the tutor can provide cohesive, continuous dialogue support.
  • We do not use your personal transcripts to train public AI models. Any transcripts used for internal system tuning are fully anonymized and stripped of personally identifiable elements.

03. User Rights & Choices

Regardless of your geographic location, we respect your rights regarding control of your personal data. We comply with major international frameworks including GDPR (Europe) and CCPA (California). Your rights include:

  • Right to Access & Portability: You may request a compiled export of your account details, learning logs, and saved vocabulary items at any time.
  • Right to Rectification: You can edit your user credentials and native language profiles directly in the app settings panel.
  • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can delete your account from your Profile page, which permanently purges all analytics, saved vocabulary, and chat logs from our primary servers.
